John COMBS I (aka COOMBS) of Tonoloways was born between 1730 and 1736. He resided Sep 1756 at Fort Coombs, Tonoloways Settlement in then Cumberland Co, PA. 1 He was taxed in 1762 in Cumberland Co, Pennsylvania.2 He was taxed in 1779 in Bethel Twp., Bedford Co, Pennsylvania.3 He was taxed in 1785 in Nelson Co, Kentucky.4 He died in 1801 in Nelson Co, Kentucky.4 He married before 1760 Alice JOLLY (daughter of Samuel JOLLY and Letitia NELSON of Tonoloways).5 Alice JOLLY was born before 1747. She was taxed in 1805 in Nelson Co, Kentucky.4 She probably died in Nelson Co., Kentucky.4

Zilpha HACKLEY of Nelson KY was born on 26 Jan 1775.17 Asa was mentioned in his father's will along with his brother Samuel as having previously been given his portion. On 10 Sep 1803 Asa Coombs and Zilpha his wife of Hardin along with Samuel Coombs and Rachel his wife of Green Co., KY sold land to Adin Coombs in Hardin Co.,KY. 21 Zilpha appeared on the census in 1830 and 1850 in Anderson Co, Kentucky.19 See land record of 9 June 1839 in Hardin Co., KY of Zelpha Coombs of Anderson Co., IN and her son John in Hardin Co., KY.21 She died on 17 Oct. 1870.17
  9. Samuel COMBS was born by 1780 as he was listed as over 21 on the 1801 Tax List of Green Co., KY. He was mentioned in his father's will as having previously been given his portion.4 He married first Rachel Grayme 5 Jan 1801 in Green Co., KY, and secondly Jane Nash 15 October 1804 in Green Co., KY.20 On 10 Sep 1803 Samuel Coombs and Rachel his wife of Green Co., KY along with Asa Coombs and Zilpha his wife of Hardin sold land to Adin Coombs in Hardin Co.,KY.21 On Sep 1831 Samuel Combs filed an inventory as guardian of the children of James Nash. Archibald Ratiff is the new guardian of the children of James Nash and acknowledged recipt of children't inheritance from Samuel Combs.20
