Litchfield, a parish in the hundred of Kingsclere, Kingsclere division of the county of Southampton, 4 miles N of Whitchurch… The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Winchester… Sir R. KINGSMILL, Bart. was patron in 1814. The church is dedicated to St. James. (Lewis, 1831...)

31 May 1638 - 8 Oct 1638 Will of Richard ARCHDALE of Wycombe, Bucks: Esq. mentions his cousin, James POVEY and his sisters, Katherine and Jane POVEY. Richard was the s/o Barnard & Anne FERNE Archdale and h/o Judith BROOKE, d/o Richard & Judith THORPE Brooke of London. His sister, Audrey ARCHDALE had m James POVEY of Litchfield (Archdale Visitation, London, 1633-4).
