SCHREIBER, Dr. Gus, a native Dallasite and a practicing physician in the city for 50 years, died at Baylor University Medical Center the night of August 16, 1993. His wife was at his side to the very last instant. Dr. Schreiber was a graduate of Southern Methodist University and received his M.D. from Baylor College of Medicine. He trained at Baylor Hospital and was associated with it through its phenomenal growth into Baylor University Medical Center, one of the finest hospitals in the United States. He was a specialist in internal medicine. For many years he was a clinical instructor at Southwestern Medical School. Dr. Schreiber was a man of many interests. As an inventor he held nine U.S. patents. In 1955 he entered a new field of endeavor – research. It was a consuming passion for the rest of his life. His work in that field is considered outstanding and important. He was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church since 1939. He was a member of numerous medical organizations. In 1939 he married his wife, Susan T. Schreiber, who survives him. They are the parents of six children, all of whom survive. Three sons ___; three daughters ___; 13 grandchildren and four great grandchildren survive. Friends desiring to make memorials are directed to the growing importance of the Baylor Research Institute, Baylor University Medical Center, 3500 Gaston Ave., Dallas, TX 75246, or to a charity of their choice. Private Services for immediate family only will be held by a friend of 60 years, Dr. Floyd Patterson. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park in the family plot of Mrs. Schreiber’s Family.

Note: Gus was the child of Maggie COOMBES and Gustave SCHREIBER.
