Northeast United States of America, for the purposes of this special study, consists of eight states -- Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut (together termed as New England), New York and New Jersey. This group of states can be described geographically as bordered on the north and northwest by the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick, Quebec, and Ontario; and on the south by Delaware and Pennsylvania. The island province of Nova Scotia sits east and northeast of Maine. The Atlantic Ocean borders the east coast and Lakes Ontario and Erie border the west northwest side of New York.
Our Northeast USA Special Study focuses on this geographic area due to the close proximity of the states. Migration into and through this part of America lends itself to COMBS-COOMBS &c. families residing at some point in time in different states within the area of focus and potentially being related. The focus of this report is to compare genetic profiles to determine any relatedness among branches of COMBS-COOMBS thereby further testing this assumption.
This report will provide an illustration of the location of COMBS-COOMBS &c. ancestors traced the furthest back by family history researchers. Specific GOALS, in terms of family history, to be derived from the DNA testing, and DNA FINDINGS and the implications for furthering family history will be discussed. Last, there will be a state by state illustration of the COMBS branches identified in our Study with further details of known branches and their migration patterns and general knowledge of DESCENDANCY.
