COMBS married 20 Feb 1774, Fauquier
Co, VA, Margaret ROUSSEAU, but his brother, Joseph,
appears to have married Mary PRITCHETT (not ROUSSEAU unless there was more
than one marriage?). John
COMBS, Sr.'s Stafford Co, VA will does not document that son, Ennis
COMBS was in Kentucky at the time of its signing (1785), but only that
his father had bequeathed land to him there. Numerous of John Sr.'s sons
seem to have been back and forth between Virginia and Frontier
Kentucky, primarily as "corn planters." John's son, Cuthbert
COMBS, Sr., remained in Stafford through at least 1790 (tax records)
and is first found in Clark Co, KY in 1797.
