Re the statement that: "Henry, one of the "eight brothers" was always known as Harrison, except in the records. It is, therefore, singular that he had a son named Henry, and one named Harrison:"

No record has ever been found of Henry COMBS, Sr. (h/o Rachel CLEMENTS) with either the nickname or middle name of Harrison. This is also the only mention of Henry COMBS, Sr. having had a son named Harrison in addition to a son named Henry. Is this a reference to a child of Henry's by his second wife, Phoebe FRANCIS (none of whose children have been identified)? Or has Henry been confused with his grandson, Hugh (s/o Henry and Nancy BROWN Combs, Jr.) who did name sons, Henry and Harrison. The earliest Harrison COMBS located in east Kentucky so far is the s/o Tarleton and Elizabeth ISOM Combs, who was born 1841-1843 (1850 Perry Co, KY Census).

While the middle initial "C" may have stood for Calmes in Bluegrass Kentucky, there is no indication that any of the East Kentucky COMBS had connections to Marquis CALMES (h/o Elizabeth, d/o John and Seth BULLIT Combs, Sr.)
