DR. JOSIAH H. COMBS. College Professor, Author, Scholar, Editor. Authority on American Dialect and Folk Songs.
JOHN W. COMBS. father of Dr. Josiah H. Combs, Kentucky State Senator, twice Sheriff of Perry County [KY], Merchant, Brandy Gauger, prominent citizen.
ABIJAH (BIGE) BENJAMIN COMBS. Sheriff of Perry County, Kentucky, 1914 to 1918. Politician, farmer, dealer in livestock and real estate.
BERT T. COMBS. Attorney. Governor of Kentucky from 1959 through 1963. He was a Judge of the Court of Appeals, Kentucky's highest appellate court and was appointed Judge of the United States Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit, in Cincinnati, Ohio.
EARLE BRYAN COMBS. New York Yankee team mate of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig and playing member of the great World Champion Yankee team of 1929. He is a member of the "Baseball Hall of Fame". In later life a prominent businessman of Richmond, Kentucky.

LESLIE COMBS II
Prominent, internationally known horseman of Lexington [Fayette Co], Kentucky. His Spendthrift Farm is famous in thoroughbred racing circles. A graduate of Centre College, he was a member of the legendary "Praying Colonels" football team when Centre stunned the sportsworld in 1921 by defeating Harvard 6-0.
