South Molton, an incorporated market town and parish, having separate jurisdiction, though locally in the hundred of South Molton, six miles southeast of Swimbridge, less than 10 miles southeast of Bishops Tawton, 28 miles north northwest of Exeter, and 181 miles southwest of London... The principal branch of manufacture is that of woollen goods, considerable supplies of which are occasionally furnished to the East Indies... The charter of incorporation was granted by Elizabeth, and confirmed by Charles II... The freedom of the borough is obtained by birth, every son of a freeman being entitled to it, whether born in or out of the parish; it is also conferred by gift of the corporation... The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry of Barnstaple, and diocese of Exeter... in the patronage of the Dean and Canons of Windsor... The free school was founded, in 1686, by Hugh SQUIER. (Lewis, 1831)

The IGI lists an Andrew DOLBERY, s/o Walter, who was christened 28 Feb 1663 in South Molton, Devon (C052021, 1601-1812, 0917529, Film, 0933372), and one Walter DOLBERIE, s/o Mallacyas, was christened in South Molton on 26 Dec 1625 (ibid.). No marriage for Walter or for any DOLBERY to a COMBS has been located yet; however, one Andrew DOLBERY married 31 Dec 1689, Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts, Eliza CONDEY (7031622, 0538670, Film) Other children of Walter from this same South Molton source include: John DOLBERRY, christened 17 Jan 1661; Humphrey DOLBERIE, christened 9 Apr 1665; Mary DOLBERRY, christened 30 Jun 1667.
