Notes: Joel Combs was the son of Simeon F. & Lavina COFFEY Combs who married 22 Jul 1823, Adair Co., KY. By 1830 they were in Pike Co., IL, but by 1840 had removed to Russell Co., KY. Simeon F. Combs was the son of Jesse Coombs. See also notation below on Simeon in the 1850 census.

Notes: Francis Marion Combs, son of Simeon F. & Lavina COFFEY Combs. Shortly after their marriage the family of Simeon and Lavina removed to Kansas where Simeon F. Combs is listed on the 1860 McGhee Co., KS Census Mortality Schedule as born in VA [sic], died Dec 1859 at age 57.
