p. 608: John ARRINGDON: 22001-02010-00
Notes: John ARRINGTON (and all var. sp.) m 27 Dec 1783, Wilkes Co, NC, Mary STEVENSON (d/o James & Sarah (KELLY?) Stevenson of Wilkes & Iredell. They either lived on the Iredell-Wilkes border or in that part of Iredell which became Wilkes again (according to ARRINGTON researchers, John was appointed to an Iredell jury in 1804 and in 1818 appointed a Justice in Wilkes). They were the foster parents of Levi COMBS who m their daughter, Sarah, in 1817 in Wilkes Co, NC, and he may have been one of the under 10 males in their above household.
P. 37: William COMBS
13 Dec 1814 COMBS, William & Elizabeth PARKS (ELLIS) , married 13 Dec 1814, Iredell Co NC; soldier died 18 Mar 1870, served in George DAVIDSON'S NC Mil, lived Iredell Co NC. (War of 1812 Pension File WC-3007)
Notes: The War of 1812 Files for Charles COMBS of Surry Co NC also refer to George DAVIDSON'S North Carolina Militia. The 1768 Rowan Co NC tax list of John BREVARD includes George DAVIDSON who tithed James COMBS, and indicates this was the part of Rowan that was later in Iredell Co. Also note the ELLIS and PARKS connections in Wilkes Co NC, including the family of Thomas Hicks & Keziah HAYS Combs.
