How to Download, Install and Set-Up PIRCH Internet Relay Chat for Combs-Coombs &c. Researchers

You are our   Visitor Since 8 Sep 1999 This page contains instructions for connecting to the irc.combs-families.org Internet Relay Chat Network using mIRC, and is for Windows users only.
Created 8 May 2000 for our PIRCH users.

Download PIRCH98 here.

Remember your folder and run the setup program.

Click the Complete/New Installation or Custom

Installing your PIRCH98

Open your PIRCH98 program

Click on the IRC icon to bring up the menu.

Click the Server List.

Click the icon to add a New Network.

I named mine Genealogy.

Now click the icon to Add Server

Type in these Properties. Name CombsChat or any name you'd like. The address is irc.combs-families.org. The Port is 6667.

Click OK.

Go Back to the IRC menu.

Click in New IRC Server Connection...

Find Genealogy in you IRC Networks.

Fillin your Name and email address (if you haven't already) And put the password "usgnChat" in.

Then Click on Connect.

You are now on the usgennet chat server by way of the combs-families hub.

Next we have to Join the #combs Channel. Click Channel in you tool bar and then Join Channel.

Enter #combs then Ok

You are now in the Combs channel on the irc.combs-families.org server. Congatulations and enjoy.
