Both his parents and grandparents were on the 1860 Pulaski Co., KY Census, but his mother apparently died following his birth since his father and two older brothers are in the 1870 Laurel Co., KY Census.  George BOLING and family, including George COMBS and his sister Mary COMBS are found on the 1880 Cooke Co., TX Census.  Later, George COMBS and his brother Albert are on the 1900 Deaf Smith Co., TX Census.

Terrible Tragedy at a Turkey Shooting Matchat McKee, Ky--Andrew Combs Shot
    by Frank Cornielson
McKee Ky, Dec 31--At a turkey shoot at Isaacs store, this county Thursday Andrew Combs and Frank CORNIELSON engaged in a fight, which resulted in the death of Combs. CORNIELSON struck Combs on the head with a gun and the latter shot at CORNIELSON after he had fallen to the ground but missed him. CORNELISON then took deliberate aim at Combs and shot him through the breast with a 38 caliber Wincheser [Winchester] rifle. Combs died instantly. CORNELISON was arrested. It is feared that he will be lynched as it is claimed his assault of Combs was unprovoked. CORNELISON is a cousin of Jack and Zion CORNELISON, who are serving lifesentences for the murder of a farmer here more than a year ago. 14 June 1911 Kentucky State Board of Health, Bureau of Vital Statistists, Death Certificate, File No. 19809 Death Certificate (provided by Scott Fischer and transcribed by Deb Coombs): Place of Death: written as Rockcastle (Breathitt Co) Name: Christina KILBURN; Sex: Female; Race: White; Widow; Date of Birth: 1843; Age: 68; Occupation: Housekeeper; Birthplace: Breathitt Co ; Father: Preston COMBS; Birthplace of father: Breathitt; Maiden Name of mother: A Miss Stacy; Birthplace of mother: Breathitt Co.; Informant: Mr. and Mrs. Hardin MOORE? of Climax, Ky; Date of Death: 14 June 1911; Cause of Death: Disease of Heart; Attending Physician: P. CORNELIUS, M.D. NOTE: Place and Date of Burial left blank.

SF NOTE: Christina Combs Kilburn (1843-1911), the daughter of Preston Combs and Nancy Stacy. She died at the home of her daughter Cathern Kilburn Moore in Climax, Rockcastle County but is buried in the Coomer-Kilburn Cemetery in Althol, Lee County, Kentucky with her husband Tipton Kilburn 1847-1905 -I visited this cemetery in August. It looks like the certificate was initially filed in Rockcastle, but it has been scratched out and Breathitt County listed instead. Must have been some confusion although Athol is just over the line from Breathitt.
