Bertie County was established in 1722 from Chowan Co NC (precincts of Albemarle). This county has not yet been researched and only a few records collected thus far.

1719 Chowan Precinct Tax List. Between Cashey Creek and Salmon Creek. John Combs. (Provided from Hathaways' Register by Combs-Stacy Researcher Barbara Mathews who adds that this area became Bertie in 1722)

Notes: Jesse is not found on either 1800 or 1810 Bertie census. Was he kin to David who follows?
