RI Notes: Hugh Patten COMBS, his wife Rebecca MCADOO, and their eight children, Addie, Marvin, Samuel.Edward, Rilla, Cratie, Mintie and Josie, moved from McMinn Co, TN to Seminole Co, OK in the year 1903.This area was settled by the Seminole, Creek and other Indian Tribes. The land was opened up to white settlement in the land run of 1891 and became part of the State of Oklahoma in 1907.

Home, Chandler.
COMBS, died Fraiday April 4 - Shawnee. Born Feb 19, 1896 in Knott Co. KY, COMBS was the son of Wiley A. and Mary Jane GAYHEART COMBS. COMBS had lived in Davenport since 1919, having moved there from Kentucky.
On July 18, 1920 he married Beulah DOYLE in Davenport. A Veteran of WWI COMBS served with General John J. Pershing Expedition in Mexico.
COMBS owned and operated theaters in Davenport during the 1920's.
He served 12 years on the DAVENPORT School Board, from 1934 until his retirement in 1923 COMBS served as Davenport post master. He was a member of the Davenport American Legion Post and the Davenport Masonic Lodge in which he served as secretary for 40 years.
COMBS was a member of the Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and six brothers.

Notes: BTM] Davenport is in Lincoln County, Oklahoma. The living mentioned as survivors were omitted by me, due to privacy. He was survived by four brothers, two sisters 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Mary Jane GAYHEART may also have spelled her last name GAYHART.
