Note: Although it has a different number, this seems to be a continuation of the household above it, one with George and Jane STOOPS listed as "head" and "wife."
Researcher Floyd Combs Note: Nora EARNHART and Emily EARNHART (Emma Lee) were the daughters of Jane STOOPS who had previously been married to Pete Earnhart. Her maiden name was SCOTT. She was born in 1838 and died in 1918. The ages are wrong. In 1880, Frank was about 28, and Emma was about 18. They were married after 1880 and had a daughter, Danie, 8 Feb 1882. They also had a son, Jesse Harrison Combs, born 5 Mar 1892 (See Gray County, Texas). According to Emma, Francis Marion "Frank" Combs was reportedly born in Perry County, Kentucky 3 Feb 1852 (or the 9 Jan 1852), the oldest son of Wiley and Polly (Fields) Combs. He died 14 Feb 1906 of flu and is burried in Coalgate, OK. Emma was born 28 Mar 1862 in Illinois and died in Bakerfield, California in 1952. According to oral family history, when Francis Marion was about thirteen (1864 to 1866), his father shot a neighbor for repeatedly breaking down his fences to allow cattle to graze on his father's land. Thinking he had killed the neighbor, he hightailed it out of the state, perhaps to the El Paso, TX area. The neighbor survived the shooting, and the family advertised for Francis Marion to return. Contact was never made.

Notes: Frank Combs appears to be same as found in the 1900 Choctaw Oklahoma Territorial Census with wife Emma EARNHART (m. 9 Sept. 1880 Texas). Family researchers claim his Frank was Francis Marion Combs, s/o of Wiley Combs and Polly FIELDS of Perry Co, KY. In the 1900 census, Emma Combs states her mother and father were born in NC.
