Plymtree, a parish in the hundred of Hayrdige... the living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Exeter... and in the patronage of the Provost and Fellows of Oriel College, Oxford. The church, dedicated to St. John the Baptist, has an elegant gilt wooden screen and an octagonal stone font..." (Lewis, 1830) Plymtree is 1.38 mi. northeast of Clyst Hydon, 1.96 northwest of Payhembury, 3.62 miles south southeast of Cullompton, 3.77 southeast of Bradninch, 3.77 southeast of Kentisbeare, and 5.12 miles southeast of Willand.
