13 Jun 1593 Essex, England Wills, CW2/98. Will of Clement ROBERTES of Little Braxted esquire, dated 13 June 1593 (date proven not given) and specified that he was to be buried “in the chancel of Little Braxted church”. To Mary my well-belowed wife two parts in three parts to be divided of my manor of Little Braxted with the appurtenances for life. Immediately after her death there be a true inventory taken [not extant] of my household stuff and napery and she to have it for life, the general property whereof shall be in my executor, and my wife shall be bound to him in reasonable bonds for its well using and its safecoming into his hands after her death. She shall have the profit of my milch kine until Michaelmas next and my corn on the ground for provison of her house. To Judy BENSON my maid servant 10 pounds. The residue of my goods to Thomas my son, whom I make executor. Witnesses: Robert VIGEROUS, Thomas ROBERTES, Walter BRIAN, William HYDE, Edward COMBES.
