SE NOTES and Questions: Is Alice Combs of the court record the same as Lucindy, age 3, of the (above) 1900 census record? If so, did she die before the 1904 suit? Lucindy married a Blair per The Combs Genealogy (below). Is William Riley Combs a possible son of the first marriage instead of the second? If James Madison Combs was married to Mary Ann Smith by 1880, as is suggested by the 1880 Perry Co., Ky. census, then they had several children, ie. at least all those listed in their 1900 Knott Co. census household which is contrary to The Combs Genealogy. See also record of 19 Jan. 1903 above concerning this estate.

Aged Knott County Woman Dies
Aunt Margaret Combs, aged 86, died at the home of her son-in-law, Squire Whittaker, on Rock House creek, Knott County, last week, death resulting from old age and injury in a fall suffered some time ago. She was married three times and survived all her husbands. She was the mother of fourteen children and had probably more than 200 descendants living at the time of her death. She was the mother of state senator John Combs and G. P. Combs, ex-county superintendent of Perry County.

"This Deed between Sam CAMPBELL and Ruthaney CAMPBELL his wife of Perry County and State of KY parties of
the first part and Sam Combs and Matlidy Combs of the county of Knott and State of KY of the second part witnesseth that the said party of the first part in consideration of the sum of eight hundred dollars in hand paid the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged do here by sell grantand convey to the party of the second part his heirs and assigns the following
described property on C____? tract of land on Troublesome Creek in Knott Co., KY a fork of the KY River and bounded as follows. Beginning on a beachtree opesit the mouth of the drift branch at the lower end of John BEGLEYS farm. Thence north 160 poles to Henry ENGLE line thence with said ENGLE line to Maggard RCHIE'S line tence with said RITCHIE'S line to the mouthof the flat woods hollow thence up troublesome to the uper end of the MillField thence up to the point with said RICHIE _______________ [entire line is missing] to John BEGLEYS line thence down the hill with said BEGLEYS line Troublesome to two beaches and spruce pines oposit where Sam Combsnow lives. Combs then to Sam CAMPBELL to have and to hold the same with all the app____? then untoto the second party his heris and assigns forever with covenant of general warranty the mineral +c sold to the Slemfo (?) Combs is but he was not Walter's father. Lyda Edmonston was not born in Knott co., but in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
