William Murphy 1915-2000
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 1, for William Orville Murphy, 85, who died Tuesday, March 28, at Salyersville Health Care Center.
Mr. Murphy was born July 16, 1915, in Magoffin County, to the late Ike and Cass Combs Murphy. He was an electrical engineer.
Surviving are four sons, Robert L. Murphy of Oil Springs, James O. Murphy of Lompoc, Califor-nia, Paul R. Murphy of Gainesville, Florida, and Ronald Murphy of Osterville, Massachu-setts; one daughter, Pamela S. Anderson of Oil Springs; and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren

Esther J. Howard, age 81, of Morgan Township, passed away Monday, April 3, 2000, at 6:15 a.m., at her daughter's residence. She was born April 24, 1918, in Salyersville, Kentucky, the daughter of Benjamin and Ranie Combs.
On January 8, 1933, in Salyersville, Kentucky, she married Kellie Howard, who preceded her in death January 27, 2000. Mrs. Howard was a nurse at Golden Years Health Care Center, for 25 years, retiring in 1990. She was a member of the Auburn Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Douglas and his wife, Saundra Howard of Hudson, Michigan and Larry and his wife, Ilona Howard of Hamilton; two daughters, Alfreida Sharp of Hamilton, and Iva-Gay and her husband, Glen Barnard of Franklin, Ohio; eighteen grandchildren; forty-five great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren; one sister, Maxine and her husband, Ed Murphy of Marion, Ohio. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Woodrow, Richmond, and Daniel Combs; a son-in-law, Cecil Sharp; and a great granddaughter, Nicole Barnard.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 5, 2000, at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, with Rev. Rick Rhodus, Pastor of the Auburn Baptist Church, officiating. Burial to follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. The family wishes to express a special thank you to Dr. Ted Hunter, Dr. Joe Scheidler, Raymond Scheidler and to her special caregivers.
