HAMMERS 1968) Will of David EVANS of Muhlenberg Co., KY mentions former wife, Sally EVANS, daughter, Sarah Jane SPURRIER, wife of Essex SPURRIER, son Samuel B. EVANS, current wife Nancy EVANS and her father William CLARK of Nelson Co., KY. Witnessed by Jacob GISH and Thomas COMBE. Will dated 10 Jan 1851, proven May term Muhlenberg Co. Court 1856, Book III, page 162-164

Notes: Ephraim C. Combs was born about 1837/1838 married Elizabeth SPURRIER in Muhlenberg County in 1863 and believe both he and Elizabeth were deceased by 1875, exact time and place unknown. Their children Edward Medley Combs and Lillie were listed as orphans and guardianship was given to Elizabeth's brother Essex Pike SPURRIER, Jr.. Edward Medley Combs was born in Muhlenberg Co., KY 8 Jun 1864, son of Ephraim C. Combs and Elizabeth S. SPURRIER. He died in 1944 in Livingston Co., KY and is buried in Chestnut Oaks Cemetery, Lyon Co., KY along with his wife Emma Olive CHANDLER, daughter of William Bennett CHANDLER and Katharine Jane HOLT. William Bennett CHANDLER and his wife Katharine Jane HOLT had a farm across the road from this cemetery. Edward Medley Combs came to Crittenden/Lyon/Livingston Co area from Muhlenberg Co., KY with his guardian and uncle, Essex Pike SPURRIER, Jr., who at one time was a Methodist Minister, and may have been a mail carrier in Lyon Co., KY.

Peter Combs, brother to above Ephraim C. Combs and son of Thomas & Evy WHITMER Combs was born 1840 died in 1853 buried in Gross Cemetery, Muhlenberg Co. The rest of this Combs family, to include children by Thomas's first wife, Sallie WHITMER Combs (sister to Evy) moved to Illinois and on to Clark Co MO by 1856 time frame.
