Is it a coincidence this family only lives 10 houses from George R. Combs whose ancestry is yet unknown? Family previously found in 1850 in Jasper Co., Mo. census. By 1870, Elliot and Rebecca were living in Madison Co, AR.

Tom Lincoln adds: After 1850, as mining developed in Barry Co. MO, the Combs and CLARKS and others moved back and forth between Madison Co. AR, where they farmed, and Barry Co. MO, where they worked in the mines. Mines in this area were already on maps before 1800. Barry Co. became strategically important during the Civil War because of the lead mines. See Also Jasper Co MO
