St Lawrence Jewry (Gresham Street) (1.24 mi. north of city centre) was rebuilt following the Great Fire of 1666. St Mary Magdalen Milk St was united to St Lawrence Jewry in 1670. St Michael Bassishaw was united to St. Lawrence Jewry in 1897. Parish records are in the Guildhall Library: baptisms, 1538-1812 and 1941-53; marriages, 1538-1928 and 1938-51; banns, 1754-1933; and burials, 1538-1853. The registers for baptisms for the years, 1813-1940, and marriages, 1928-38, were destroyed in 1940. Later baptisms and marriage registers have been retained by the incumbent. Christened: Jacob [James] PROCTOR, s/o PROCTORSee Michael PINDAR, clothworker, and Richard, John, James and Thomas PROCTOR, all mercers, recognitors for the orphans of Martin ARCHDALE of St. Margaret Pattens in 1598. No christening record has been located as yet for Rachel. One Michael PYNDER was christened in 1558 in Aldermanbury Robert PALMER was the brother of William PALMER, h/o Barbara ARCHDALE, niece of Martin ARCHDALE.
