Harefield Parish, Hundred of Elthorne, Middlesesx, is at the juncture of Middlesex, Bucks and Herts, being adjacent to the parishes of Denham, Chalfont St. Peter and Chalfont St. Giles, Bucks (to the west) and Rickmansworth, Herts (to the Northwest). The neighboring Middlesex parishes are Ruislip and Ickenham (to the southeast) and Uxbridge to the south. Harefield is abt 18 mi. northwest of the centre of the City of London "The living is a donative, in the jurisdiction of the Commissary of London concurrently with the Consistorial Court of the Bishop, and in the patronage of Charles NEWDIGATE, Esq. The church, dedicated to the Virgin Mary, contains several memorials of the ancient family of NEWDIGATE
