Mrs. J. R. Brooks was born April 2, 1844 and died October 23, 1908. She had been a member of Dry Fork Church for a number of years and was the mother of eight children, four of whom are left to mourn her death. William T. Brooks of Fulton, Church Brooks of Columbia, Mrs. Annie Reno of Mokane and Mrs.Clara Rogers of McKittrick. She was the daughter of William Dozier and Sarah Combs, both natives of KY

Notes: William DOZIER who married Sally Combs 01 Jul 1820, Clark Co, KY. Sarah, d/o of Benjamin B. Combs (son of Cuthbert & Sarah “Sallie” EVANS Combs) who married Elizabeth “Betsy” PAYNE (daughter of William & Mary GRIMES Payne). William and Sarah's daughter Elizabeth (b 29 June 1825) married J W CHANEY (see Dry Fork cemetery record below). Records relative to an 1836 Christian Co, KY Chancery suit state William and Sarah were not residents of the Commonwealth.

Township 47N-Range 10W. Dry Fork is located two and one half miles north and west of Guthrie, Missouri. The Eleven Founding Members of Dry Fork Baptist Church were William Dozier, Sarah Dozier, Elizabeth Dozier, Caroline Dozier, John Holt, Mary Holt, Timothy Holt, Harriet Holt, Robert Brandon, Nancy Dorton, & Emily Branham.

BROOKS, James Richard- no stone- born May 10, 1837 and died July 30, 1904 in Callaway County
BROOKS, Catherine Dozier - daughter of Thomas Dozier and Sarah Combs from Kentucky no stone- born April 2, 1844 and died October 23, 1908 in Callaway County
The next three are children of J. R. Brooks and Catherine Dozier- no stones
Elisabeth BROOKS born February 2, 1862. She probably died as an infant as she is not on the 1870 census. Birth date was taken from family bible.
Turner Lee BROOKS born in June 1864 was also not on the 1870 census and his birth date was taken from the family bible.
Martha [Mattie] BROOKS was born July 24, 1865. She was burned severely on a wood stove and died from her injuries and consumption in the 1880’s. Her actual death date is not known.

Elizabeth, wife of J.W. CHANEY, died Jan. 20, 1890 aged 64 ys. 6 ms. 22 d. Elizabeth Dozier was the second wife of Joseph W. Chaney. She was born in Missouri June 29, 1825, a daughter of William DOZIER and Sarah Combs. Photo of tombstone.
Richard E. son of J.W. and E. CHANEY, born Aug. 11, 1865 died Aug. 8, 1886 Richard Edmund Chaney was a son of Joseph W. Chaney and Elizabeth Dozier. He was a grandson of Reuben Chaney and Julia Deupree, and, William Dozier and Sarah Combs.
Irvin L. NEVINS, Died Oct. 5, 187? stone is broken. Irvin L. Nevins was a son of James Nevins and Nancy E. Nevins. He was born about 1831 in Callaway Co., Missouri. On March 12, 1856 he married Martha DOZIER in Callaway Co, Missouri. Photo of tombstone
