Except where otherwise noted, source is "New York Marriages Previous to 1784," E. B. O'Callaghan, Weed, Parsons and Company, Albany, NY, 1860, excerpted from pp. 80-83 by Combs Researcher Debi Kendrick, including the following additional information:
"A marriage license was issued from the [New York] Provincial Secretary's office, and in return those who obtained it gave a Penal Bond in the sum of £500, that there was no "lawful let or impediment of Pre-Contract, Affinity or Consanguinity, to hinder the parties being joined in the Holy Bonds of Matrimony, and afterwards their living together as 'Man and Wife.'"
A secondary source is partial, 1961-dated, rough draft of an unpublished 1925 Manuscript provided by Combs Researcher Hannah Friedlander and titled "Combes Genealogy" by George Davison Aylesworth Combes (1889-1941), Assisted by Clinton de Raisnes Combs (1886-1953), compiled ante 1925, Edited by Winifred Lovering Holman, S.B., F.A.S.G.; hereinafter GDAC, 1925.
