William COOMBS came to the colony as a family man in 1843 and settled on a company survey. He was issued Robertson Third Class Certificate No. 1512 for 640 acres, which he patented in Dallas County. He is listed on the 1850 census (Dallas County, family No. 259) as a 47-year-old farmer, born in Kentucky, with three children.
BTM Note: This is William Nelson COOMBS who was married to Ivy Green, father of Isaac Nelson COOMBS, Leven Green COOMBS, Zacariah Ellis COOMBS and William Hamilton COOMBS.]
Isaac N. COOMBS came to the colony before July 1, 1844, as a single man but later married. He was issued a land certificate by Thomas William WARD in 1850 for 640 acres, which he patented in Dallas County (Robertson Third Class Certificates No. 1564). He is listed on the census for 1850 (Dallas County, HH# 128) as a 24-year-old farmer, born in Kentucky, with one child.
BTM Note: This is Isaac Nelson COOMBS.
Levin Green COOMBS migrated to the colony as a family man prior to July 1, 1844, and settled on a company survey in present Dallas County. He was issued Robertson Third Class Certificate No. 1513 for 640 acres, which he patented in Dallas County. He is listed on the 1850 census (Dallas County, HH#.163) as a 26-year-old farmer, born in Kentucky, with one child.
BTM Note: Leven Green COOMBS was in Montague County, Texas by 1875 when he married widow Nancy Sinclair and also in the 1880 Montague County, Texas Census HH# 245/266.
William H. COOMBS migrated to the colony as a single man prior to July 1, 1844. He was issued a land certificate by Thomas William WARD in 1850 and patented 316 acres in Dallas County (Robertson Third Class No. 1769).
BTM Note: This is William Hamilton COOMBS, son of William Nelson COOMBS.
Joseph COMBS came to the colony as a family man prior to July 1, 1848. He was issued Robertson Third Class Certificate No. 1570 for 464 acres, which he sold unlocated and which was later patented in Tarrant County. He is listed on the 1850 census (Dallas County, HH# 346) as a 25-year-old farmer, with one child. He was born in Ohio.
BTM Note: This would make this Joseph COMBS born 1825 in Ohio. Which Joseph is he?
Zur COMBS migrated to the colony as a single man prior to July 1, 1848. He was issued Robertson Third Class Certificate No. 2043 for 320 acres, which he sold unlocated and which was later patented in Dallas County. He is listed on the 1850 census (Dallas County, family No. 350) as a 22-year-old famer, born in Ohio.

Walter died 12 Aug 1909 of tuberculosis and was buried in
Oakland Cemetery. Maggie married (2) Gustave

SCHREIBER, Dr. Gus, a native Dallasite and a practicing physician in the city for 50 years, died at Baylor University Medical Center the night of August 16, 1993. His wife was at his side to the very last instant. Dr. Schreiber was a graduate of Southern Methodist University and received his M.D. from Baylor College of Medicine. He trained at Baylor Hospital and was associated with it through its phenomenal growth into Baylor University Medical Center, one of the finest hospitals in the United States. He was a specialist in internal medicine. For many years he was a clinical instructor at Southwestern Medical School. Dr. Schreiber was a man of many interests. As an inventor he held nine U.S. patents. In 1955 he entered a new field of endeavor research. It was a consuming passion for the rest of his life. His work in that field is considered outstanding and important. He was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church since 1939. He was a member of numerous medical organizations. In 1939 he married his wife, Susan T. Schreiber, who survives him. They are the parents of six children, all of whom survive. Three sons ___; three daughters ___; 13 grandchildren and four great grandchildren survive. Friends desiring to make memorials are directed to the growing importance of the Baylor Research Institute, Baylor University Medical Center, 3500 Gaston Ave., Dallas, TX 75246, or to a charity of their choice. Private Services for immediate family only will be held by a friend of 60 years, Dr. Floyd Patterson. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park in the family plot of Mrs. Schreibers Family.
