8 Mar 1836. Hancock Co, IL Llewelyn W. Combs. Federal Land Sales is probably same record as that by the BLM which shows that signature date of 3 Nov 1840 for land in Hancock Co, IL issued to Llewellyn W. Combs of Adams Co, IL.
Feb 1840 Adams Co, IL Court Documents (Abstracted). "sometime in the month of February 1840 one Llewellyn W. Combs a resident of said county departed this life"… He erected a tanning mill on the property… and "carried on the tanning business for the space of more than one year thereon… [and his wife] Maria has removed beyond the jurisdiction of this state into the State of Kentucky". Llewellyn Combs owed about $153.00 and because Maria had left the state, Llewellyn's property was taken back (Abstracted by Combs Researcher Rue Avant from copies of original courthouse file)
RA Notes: Llewellyn W. Combs m 25 Oct 1830, Nelson Co, KY, Maria K. OVERTON. In 1850, Maria K. Combs and family are on the Jefferson Co, KY census. See also Interview of their daughter, Susan Combs Harner.

SE Notes: Could this be Nelson D Combs, s/o of John Milton Combs and Mary DAVIS of Highland Co, OH and Knox Co, IL? He is about the right age, he was born in Ohio, and both parents born in Virginia. N D Combs last found living with brother Wilson H Combs in 1880 in Nemaha Co, NE. No wife and children with him in 1880. There is no Nelson B. Combs listed in the Civil War Soldier database; however, there is a Nelson D Combs who served as a 1st Lt. in the 86th Reg´t, IL Inf Co F, and a N H. Combs that served as a private in the 114th Reg´t, IL Inf Co F. On 25 July 1898, Nelson D. Combs of Illinois applied for and received a Civil War Pension for his service in F Co, 86 IL. Infantry (App# 1208 704, Cert. # 985 807 from NARA Civil War Pension Index).
