01 Oct 1807 (Warren County Kentucky Courthouse, Marriage Register Book A, p. 9) Entry dated October
1, 1807: "Jane COMES married Rubin WOOLBANKS, HIGHTOWER officiating." John BARNETT, bondsman. (Transcribed by Combs Researcher Herbert G. Holcomb who adds that original bond is on file in the KY Building, Western University Campus, Bowling Green, KY)
HGH Notes: Rubin (a.k.a. Ruebin WILBANKS) was the son of Richard WILIBANKS d 1790 Wilkes Co., NC (Wilkes NC WB1:293). According to family tradition at least two children from this marriage: First child b. 1808, named Dorthea. Second child, named William b. 1809 (See Simpson Co., KY Records). The U. S. 1810 Warren County, KY Census listed RuebinWILBANKS as head of household with the two above children accounted for. Jane evidently died before 1817. According to Wilbanks Trees published by Robert M. Wilbanks IV, January-February 1998 issue, p. 5, Reubin married next Nancy BARRETT (a.k.a. BARNETT) 12 Feb 1817 in Sumner Co., TN. See also WILBANK/WOOLBANK Families of Pendleton SC & Wilkes Co., NC. His two children by Jane Combs appear to have migrated with the Combs & Associated Famlies in 1822, and on 22 Jul 1823 Dorothy WILBANKS' marriage to John HOLCOMB is recorded in Gibson Co., IN.
