Tyrrell County was established in 1729 from the Albemarle Districts of Bertie, Chowan, Currituck and Pasquotank.

Notes: Neither Winnifritt (a.k.a. Winnifred) Combs, nor her husband (deceased?) have been identified as yet. The Wilson Deed has not yet been located. The only other Winnifred Combs found early in the colonies so far are (a) Winnifred Combs, b 1749, Overwharton Parish, Stafford Co VA, to Mason & Sarah Combs, Sr; and (b) Winnifred ENSEY, who m pre-1753, William Combs of Charles Co, MD.

It is not yet known if any connection exists between the Tyrrell County, NC and Stafford Co, VA Combs, but thought not since Tyrrell is closer to North Carolina's coast. No connection has been found as yet between Tyrrell County and Maryland, although other possibilities include a migration from New England, Old England, Barbados or Colonial South Carolina (See Early Combs &c. Families of Berkeley, Charleston & Orangeburg SC).
