Anderson Co was established in 1801 from Knox County, Tennessee, gaining substantially to the westward in 1803 when more Indian Lands opened up. In 1806, Campbell Co was established from Anderson and Claiborne Cos TN. In 1849, Scott was established from Fentress, Morgan, and Anderson, and in 1850, (new) Union Co was established from Anderson, Campbell, Claiborne, Grainger and Knox.
01 Apr 1795 "William REED on April 1, 1795, sold 400 acres of land on the North side of the Clinch river to James COMB and John COMB." (Tennessee Cousins, Knox Co, TN Chapter, p. 214
Notes: Not identified and land record not yet obtained; however, see also next, plus note that land on the North side of the Clinch would not have remained in Knox County, Tennessee, but become part of Anderson Co, Tennessee (or even further west, depending on actual location).

Combs Letters, and see Campbell County, Tennessee) See Also Combs-ROARK Families of Hawkins County, Tennessee & Perry Co, Kentucky (where Combs-Richardson & Combs-Wilson are also found) The WILSONS are later found in Campbell County, Tennessee, but again no Combs are found although see Amos RICHARDSON.
