Note: Carrie (Cora) Combs died in October 1985 in Indiana according to the SSDI. Sidney Gabbard was born in Owsley Co. KY in 1908 and apparently at some point lived around Hazzard and worked in the coal mines near there. Carrie and Sid had 12 children. Elijah, Earl, Ruby, Della, Henrietta, Georgia, Betty, Marie, Sidney, Donald, David, and James. Also note that the Kentucky birth index for Betty G, Earl, Elijah, Georgia Marie and Sid Gabbard all list their mother's maiden name as Carrie Gabbard. More research is needed to determine if Carrie was a Combs.

According to a 1932 family scrapbook newspaper clipping belonging to Jo Tambornino Chayer (Source needed) Cynthia married in 1868 to Harrison Combs, a Union soldier in the Civil War, and a son of Tarlton Combs and Betty Ison Combs. Cynthia had 12 children: Her sons were W.H., Lee and J.B.(twins); Eli, Charlie, Mack(Malcomb) Walter and Harrison and herdaughters were: Maggie, Alice, Annie and Laura. She was born in a log house in Hazard on the spot where the W.O. Davis building stands, which was then known as Baker's Tavern. Her husband died in 1888 when she was 39 years old.
