Dunmore County, named after Lord Dunmore, was organized from Frederick Co VA in 1772. In 1778, during the Revolutionary War, Dunmore was re-named Shenandoah. In 1831 Page Co was created from Rockingham & Shenandoah Cos, and in 1836 Warren Co was created from Page & Shenandoah. (The records of Dunmore are maintained by Shenandoah County, with the few Combs records found thus far included herein)

(History of Shenandoah County, VA, by John Wayland)

SW: CLORE, CLOER, CLOUR

Notes: Who was this? Date? Could James have been the second white male in 1792 HH of Job (see next)? Or was he possibly descended (somehow) from John & Nancy HARDING Combs, Sr.? What happened to him (not found again).

15 Nov 1793 (Shenandoah Co VA Marriage Records)

Job Combs (widower) married Elizabeth SPANGLER (married by Simon HARR)

Notes: Date conflicts? Following the death of Barbara TAYLOR, Job m (3) the above Elizabeth SPANGLER (or SLAUGHTER?) Note that only the third record (source?) states Job was a widower, and that a Marriage CD lists her as Mrs. Elizabeth SLAUGHTER (perhaps what is meant by "widow" in the second record, referring not to Job, but to her?). Was she neè SPANGLER or is that a mistranscription? Hers was the only SLAUGHTER marriage in Shenandoah listed by this source. Of the SPANGLER marriages in Shenandoah per this source, none seem to "fit"; i.e.:

SPANGLER, Philip & STOVER, Reginia Nov 15 1788
DENTON, Jacob & SPANGLER, Elizabeth Aug 25 1794
KENDRICK, Cathrine & SPANGLER, Anthony Feb 25 1796
LOWDER, Christina & SPANGLER, Philip Apr 09 1798

Also Note: If Elizabeth was a widow, she may have had issue from her earlier marriage, and if so, locating these children might be a way of "zeroing in on" the children of Job.

I hereby nominate and appoint my beloved and trusted friends John Cuvil and Robert McKay to be my sold executors of my last will and testament hereby making and dissalowing all other wills by me at any time heretofore by me made.

Wilmouth refers to her daughters "coming" to divide their legacies, a statement that suggests they live elsewhere as records do prove.)
