INTERNATIONAL DNA STUDY

Surname Study Introduction

This COMBS-COOMBS &c. INTERNATIONAL DNA STUDY was officially established March, 2005, as part of our on-line family history research project. We are a non-profit public benefit organization called the Combs-Coombs &c. Research Group.

Our DNA STUDY begins with a “Study Profile & Most Recent Developments” section for researchers to keep abreast of the study´s progress. This section will be updated regularly. This is followed by a section explaining “How To Access Our Family History Research Project & DNA Study” with descriptions from which to learn the organization of the study and links to facilitate on-line navigation. We recommend completely reading the DNA STUDY “Main Web Page” BEFORE utilizing the links to other parts of the study.

WHERE TO FIND UPDATED INFORMATION IN THE DNA STUDY

Be sure to check the following sections of the STUDY to keep abreast of changes and new information:

INTRODUCTION This page comes up when you open the DNA STUDY on-line.

VIRTUAL ARCHIVE As new lineages are posted it will only take a few minutes to see if there is anything new. These can be accessed by using a drop down menu where you can select geographic locations where you would like to review lineages and you can search for any term using your own browser, such as names and places that fit with your research interests.

DNA FINDINGS - LINEAGES CONFIRMED This will note the latest lineages tested and findings that are available.

LINEAGE STUDIES - SPECIAL STUDIES This will be an overview of a specific COMBS branch, research goals outlined, study learnings, descendancy and the research reports available in the family history part of our research project.

Throughout the project and study we have tried to link to the different parts of both the Research Project and the Study to help further family history research.

We now have a Study that integrates family history with DNA findings. This will be developed further over time and as there are new developments in the field of DNA as it relates to family history, we will see they are presented here. Remember we have many people who have tested and are waiting to find matches. If you are considering testing, please contact Denise Mortorff for further information at n2rpast@sbcglobal.net.
